The Pearl: Our History
& the Journey Ahead
Since 2018, OMI has been working to restore this historic location and bring new life to downtown Oxford. That effort moved forward in 2022 when the project received a $2,144,166 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Project (RACP) grant, a milestone that helped turn long-held hopes into a real and achievable vision.
Everything changed in September 2023 when the theatre was lost to a devastating fire. The loss was felt across Oxford, yet it also revealed something powerful. Our community was not ready to let this place fade away, and The Pearl reflects that response. It carries the legacy of the original theatre while clearing the way for a future filled with creativity, learning, and shared experiences.
The future theatre will welcome 275 people and support performances, movies, musical events, children’s programming, lectures, and community gatherings. It is designed to become a cultural home for Southern Chester County and a space where everyone can feel included.
